In an era where technology is ubiquitous, the concept of the “augmented human” is becoming a reality. This seminar will explore the latest advancements in augmenting human capabilities through wearable technology, bio-enhancement, and AI-driven solutions. We will explore the ethical, societal, and technical challenges of enhancing physical and cognitive abilities, focusing on real-time integration of technology into the human body. Participants will gain insights into emerging trends, including brain-computer interfaces, eye tracking, augmented reality, and personalized health technologies, and engage in a critical discussion of the future of human augmentation in society.
Grading
The overall grade is made up in equal parts of the presentation and the term paper, with each component contributing 50% to the final grade.
Presentation: The presentation should last ~ 30 minutes (+ 10 minutes discussion). You should introduce the central research question and explain your chosen methodology, present your results/findings/insights together with preliminary conclusions. You should be able to present the structure clearly, highlight the main findings and outline open issues
Term paper (or report for the guided research topics) The report is due on July 23. It must include an introduction with the research question, a detailed description of the methodology, a thorough presentation of the results, and a discussion in which you categorize your findings and outline potential gaps in the literature or for future work. Your paper will be graded on the clarity, rigor and coherence of your argument.
