The eScout Academy is a program designed to train student assistants to support instructors in the preparation and implementation of online teaching. This semester, we will move away from emergency remote teaching and focus on producing high-quality online courses.

The course will be fully online, with optional in-person activities as the state of the pandemic allows.

The course is a mix of self- and instructor-paced. The resources (namely reading assignments and videos) will be available for you to access at your own pace. However, the interactive activities will be completed based on the schedule below. You are welcome to consume the information and join in the discussion forums, without completing the instructor-paced activities.

In order to earn a certificate from ProLehre | Medien und Didaktik (PLMD) at the end of the semester, you must complete all of the activities. Certificates from PLMD will be automatically generated and sent to you.

The topics we will cover this semester include: Pedagogy, Moodle, Online Tutorials, Instructional Videos, Assessment, and Active Learning. Creating an accessible online course will be an ongoing theme. By the end of the semester, you will have created your own Moodle course! As we go through each topic, you will add more elements, like a self-made video, quiz, assignments, and more. You are welcome to create material for an existing course that you are a part of, or you can create a fictitious course.
