In a flipped class, also known as an inverted classroom, students are expected to prepare for lecture in a meaningful way, so they can participate in activities designed by the instructor to enhance and deepen learning. This teaching method is rewarding for students and instructors alike. No more lecturing at the chalkboard. Instead, engage with students in stimulating conversations and wit-ness their excitement about learning your topic.
But… How do I know if a flipped class is right for me and my course? What is to be done if students don’t complete the self-study assignments? What types of activities can be done in class? These questions will be explored in this workshop.
6 units will be awarded in total, 2 of which are acquired independently and asynchronously (through videos and a short assignment), starting two days before the meeting, and 4 units are acquired through an in-person meeting.
Tip: If you would like to dive deeper into the topic, we recommend you visit the Instructional Design Werkstatt: Flipped Class (QW090).
