I
am glad to welcome you in our module Open Circular Innovation this
semester. I am very much looking forward to exploring circular economy
topics with you from an industry point of view.
In
this module, you will supplement your theoretical circular economy and
innovation knowledge with industry experience and you will yourself
develop solutions, concepts, and prototypes for real-life problems in
the field of open circular innovation. You will be in contact with
industry experts and gain deep knowledge of what a circular economy
really means in practice. A specific focus will be set on the consumer
electronics industry but also other industry perspectives will be
covered.
The module consists
of a lecture and a seminar that build a joint module, for which you receive 6 ETCS in the bachelor program.
The
lecture consists of one presence and two online sessions and imparts the knowledge base
for the assignments that will all take place in the seminar. The zoom
link for all online sessions is the following: https://tum-conf.zoom-x.de/j/63970672634?pwd=NWMyL2l3aUJ0eVZua1dTMVdlY0d2UT09

board which we will work with in some sessions is the following: https://miro.com/app/board/uXjVLRwtuS8=/?share_link_id=862686604310
The sessions for the lecture will take place on the following dates:

- 21.11.2025: 09.00-13.00 (online, zoom): Methodological knowledge (e.g., consulting pitch)
The seminar consists of three sessions (one online,
two in presence) and provides a use case and two innovation
challenges that represent the module's assignments. The presence sessions
are all held in 02.001, Hörsaal P1 (3503.02.001):
-
24.11.2025, 08.00-12.00 (online, zoom) Use case challenges (you will
receive a scheduled time slot for your individual assignment)
- 28.11.2025, 9.00-18.00 (presence: 02.001, Hörsaal P1, 3503.02.001):
Innovation challenge 1 (consulting pitch in the field of open circular
innovation)
- 12.12.2025,
9.00-18.00 (presence: 02.001, Hörsaal P1, 3503.02.001): Innovation
challenge 2 (stakeholder negotiations, concept and prototype development
for a system innovation in reverse logistics)
In
the first session details about the module's assignments and course
structure will be explained. Please bring with you the circular economy
definition you consider as most convincing in written form.
A
more detailed description of what can be expected of the module can be
found in the moodle course under "course description". Additionally,
relevant literature is provided in a separate folder.
